October 6 – Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance (PS4)
Hey dood! The long running cult hit strategy RPG franchise graces the PS4 with its exclusive presence. Expect demons, prinnies and deep SRPG combat mixed with humor.
October 6 – Elite Dangerous (Xbox One)
Elite Dangerous, currently of PC glory, makes its debut on the Xbox One early this month. The massive multiplayer space adventure simulator will have you wheeling, dealing and exploring within the Milky Way Galaxy.
October 6 – Prison Architect (PC)
Prison Architect will release proper the month, much to the joy of our publisher and founder Yamilia Avendano who won’t stop talking about how awesome it is. And I mean actually won’t stop, during meetings and filming she will be freaking about something going wrong in her prison. Yeesh, INTERVENTION much?
October 6 – Rock Band 4 (PS4, Xbox One)
Rock Band 4 has a lot riding on it. Can rhythm party games make a come back and once again take over college dorm rooms across America? No one will really know until it’s out, but Rock Band 4 will be the first to attempt it this month followed by Guitar Hero Live later on.
October 6 – Transformers: Devastation (PS4, PS3, Xbox One, 360, PC)
Forget the CGI laden movies starring Shia (I’m not famous anymore, DO IT) Lebeouf, Transformers: Devastation draws from the 80s well of nostalgia in their adaption of the classic franchise. Platinum Games of Vanquish and Bayonetta fame put a high speed action spin on the Transformers, allowing each character to seamlessly transform during battle.
October 9 – Civilization: Beyond Earth – Rising Tide (PC, Mac)
Civilization V… IN SPACE… Civilization: Beyond Earth will get its first expansion towards the end of the first full week of October. Rising Tide, as it name may imply, tasks players with harnessing the power of alien oceans, and dealing with all the issues that may arise from that.
October 9 – Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection (PS4)
Do you like the Uncharted series? I’m probably the only one out there that thinks it’s kind of boring besides the second one, which was pretty cool, but enough about me. For everyone else, you can pick up all three PS3 classics in one convenient bundle on Oct. 9.
October 13 – Corpse Party: Blood Drive (PS Vita)
The cult horror franchise for the PSP, Corpse Party, makes its PS Vita debut via Blood Drive. Blood Drive is set to be the final chapter of the story involving Heavenly Host Elementary School where seriously screwed up things happened over a couple of games.
October 13 – Dragon Quest Heroes (PS4)
Ever wonder what would happen if you cross Dragon Quest with Dynasty Warriors? Well wonder no more! About halfway through October fans of the classic JRPG and hack-and-slash series’ will get the mashup of their dreams.
October 13 – Minecraft: Story Mode (PS4, PS3, 360, Xbox One, PC)
Can we stop for a second to ask how the hell does Telltale Games have time to do all of these games? It’s truly impressive considering more often than not they come out in a reasonable amount of time. Oh right, Minecraft: Story Mode comes out this month. I think you’ll befriend pigs or something and go on blocky looking adventures.
October 13 – The Talos Principle (PS4)
The PC classic, The Talos Principle, arrives on consoles for the first time via the PS4. Players will guide a nameless robot with artificial intelligence through a mysterious narrative driven puzzle game.
October 13 – Wasteland 2 (PS4, Xbox One)
It has got to be rough being the opening act for Fallout 4 in the nuclear apocalypse genre, but Wasteland 2 is probably different enough to carve a niche out on consoles. It also avoided being another Kickstarter fail, which certainly is a feather in developer inXile Entertainment’s cap.
October 16 – Yoshi’s Woolly World (Wii U)
What’s interesting about Yoshi’s Woolly World is that it actually is arriving last in North American markets after coming out first for both Australia and Europe. Anyway, Yoshi’s Woolly World is a super adorable, super easy Yoshi game. If you’re down for a few hours of chill platforming and cute overload, go for it!
October 20 – Guitar Hero Live (PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Wii U)
Activision and Guitar Hero Live are here to ask the world: Is it OK to make music games again yet? I thought it was rather dull and didn’t bring enough new stuff to warrant a new one, while Senior Writer Ian Lepkowski loved it. We’ll find out in week three of October 2015!
October 20 – Just Dance 2016 (PS4, PS3, Xbox One, 360, Wii U, Wii)
It’s Barack Obama’s favorite game (probably anyway). Could a franchise get any more of a ringing endorsement? I wonder if Barack Obama and his family approve of the annualization of the Just Dance franchise though? These are the issues our 2016 candidates should be tackling.
October 20 – Tales of Zestiria (PS4, PS3, PC)
Tales of Zestiria goes back to the roots of the Tales series in honor of its 20th anniversary. The LMBS battle system is back alongside a new open world map.
October 23 – Assassin’s Creed Syndicate (PS4, Xbox One)
One of the big dogs towards the end of October is Assassin’s Creed Syndicate. AC is a very hot and cold series and last year’s entry, Assassin’s Creed Unity left a bad taste in the mouths of many, including myself who never played an AC game and was looking forward to one set during my favorite period of history. Hopefully for AC fans, Syndicate will right the ship.
October 23 – The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes (3DS)
The portable Legend of Zelda games are often overshadowed by their console big brothers but they shouldn’t be. Nintendo has done an excellent job delivering great Zelda games to their portables and if I was a betting man (and I am), I would wager that Tri Force Heroes is going to be pretty fun.
October 27 – Halo 5: Guardians (Xbox One)
Oh nelly. Halo is about as AAA as AAA gets. Everyone here at Twinfinite that has seen or played Halo 5: Guardians so far has walked away quite impressed. Although lack of splitscreen co-op may be unforgivable to some.
October 27 – WWE 2k16 (PS4, PS3, Xbox One, 360)
IT’S JOHN CENA. I’m so sorry. I just could not resist. Moving on. It’s WWE 2k16, you probably know what to expect if you’re a fan of professional wrestling games. By the looks of that roster above it looks like you’ll have lots of wrasslers to choose from. But why anyone would choose anyone besides JOHN CENA is beyond me.
October 30 – The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth (PC)
Fittingly, the end of the month and Halloween eve will be capped off with a major DLC expansion of The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth, and all and all a pretty creepy game. If you’re looking for a lengthy explanation of the ending of the original game (maybe) you can do so here. Spoiler alert!
And that just about does it for this month! There are more of course but these are just a few of the major ones. We also have our picks for which we think will be the biggest and best October video game releases. What are you personally looking forward to this October? Let us know in the comments!
