Halo 5: Guardians Will Have the “Most Excellent” Grunt Ever and Zero-Combat Chapters

The Master Chief will finally adopt a Grunt and retire to the Caspian Sea with his new best friend. (Probably)

It’s almost a week away from the release of Halo 5: Guardians, and details leading up to the release don’t seem to stop whether Microsoft and 343 Industries like it or not. A comumnity update from the official blog of Halo, Halo Waypoint, dropped major news about the campaign.

Among promoting new Halo 5 trailers and a new episode of the radio program Hunt the Truth, we will see a few chapters where fighting isn’t the main objective. In fact, there won’t be any combat in these “exploration spaces.” You will bounce between Blue Team and Fireteam Osiris for 15 chapters (levels) in Halo 5: Guardians; GRIMBROTHER ONE of Halo Waypoint explains how these chapters will play out.

“That’s not to say there won’t be some quieter moments though. In fact, a few of the chapters will introduce something quite new when it comes to typical Halo campaigns in the form of non-combat exploration spaces. These particular chapters will give you a chance to catch a breath, but also to explore, to look, and to listen.

More than perhaps any other campaign in Halo history, there is story to be found to those willing to look and listen – whether that be to your squadmates themselves, or perhaps to other characters that are scattered throughout the environment”

GRIMBROTHER ONE isn’t done. The lovable cannon fodder of the Unggoy, otherwise known as grunts, will be a big facet in one of those chapters. Those easily frightened, gas mask-wearing enemies will make their mark in Halo 5: Guardians. Not just punchlines in the middle of battle, there will be one particular grunt that will make those zero combat exploration chapters worth it. “Plus, one of them in particular introduces one of the most excellent Unggoy in Halo history. Trust me.”
