Req Levels
Req levels are an incredibly important part of Warzone. The correct utilization of your req levels during a match of Warzone could make you a rockstar. Simply put, think about when you’re about to spend a ton your hard-earned levels on a weapon, vehicle, or upgrade. Is it wise to call in that Scorpion when you’re losing 975 to 400? Probably not.
Calling in and using your best Reqs at the wrong time is not going to be the decider in an already decided match. You’ll also be losing those Reqs for another match when defending a capture point, or blasting an NPC boss in the face with that Spartan Laser could actually be what leads your team to victory.
Think before you Req, Spartans.
When to Tackle the Boss Characters
The best ways to accrue a steady amount of points (VP) is capturing designated locations and taking out opposing players, however, Warzone throws bosses into the mix which can completely change the outcome of a game. Throughout a match, AI- controlled characters will patrol a specific area, each with a particular bounty of VP on their head. These can range anywhere from 25VP up to 150VP, correlating with the difficulty of each boss.
It may seem like a no-brainer to go dashing after these at every single opportunity, however quickly consider the position your team is in before heading over to that Warden with your Battle Rifle in hand. Players tend to forget that they still have captured points to defend when a boss appears, offering a perfect opportunity for the enemy to walk in and grab that steady stream of VP. Consider the outcome of taking down the boss, will those points almost guarantee you victory or bring you right back into the game, or will they more than likely, not alter the outcome all that much.
If you’ve got the Reqs and the support from the rest of your team, take down that Warden Eternal for 150VP, these are the guys you should always consider going after. However, running head first into them with nothing more than a Battle Rifle, not recommended.
The Middle Point
We’ve already mentioned the significance of maintaining these capture points, after all it’s going to be the main stream of income for your team’s VP. However, the middle point provides more than just an extra point or two every so often.
Acquiring the middle point such as the Garage, or the Spire to name just two gives the controlling team a large advantage. With it being, strangely enough, in the middle, this means that the opposing team has to come somewhere near you if they want to take control of the other capture point you may have acquired. This makes high ground at one of these capture points a great place to pick off enemies as they come near. On the other hand, if you only have control of the middle point, it offers the perfect opportunity to stretch the enemy forces over two opposing ends of the map as you mount attacks on each of the remaining points.
Capture the middle point and lock it down, its benefits will prove themselves in the course of the match.
Teamwork
Warzone is a huge online mode hosting twenty-four players on massive, sprawling maps filled with objectives to fulfill. While it’s easy to get caught up in the action and go all Rambo on the opposition, the more sensible option is teamwork.
Communicating with your team makes locking down those capture points, deciding who should defend your control points while others take out the bosses or capture other locations a whole lot easier. Not to mention that it will stop the enemy from sneaking in and stealing your capture point as your entire team is off taking down Baron ‘Sraom.
This will help when it comes down to working out something simple such as which of the two opposition’s capture points should you try and claim as your own. Taking on a well-defended capture point on your own while the rest of your team is doing something else is rarely going to end well.
If there is a group of you and your friends playing, stick together and you’ll accomplish a lot more than on your own. Power in numbers is key, especially when attempting to take down the defenses of the opposition’s capture point.
In summary: Communicate, strategize, and stick together.
Know Your Weapons
It’s no surprise by now that Halo 5 has a lot of guns, but working out the ones you’re most effective with is pretty important. Narrowing your weapons of choice down to a select few that you slay with will only make you more effective on the battlefield. Rather than picking up that Plasma Caster because it’s big and looks cool, pick your enemies off with the Battle Rifle, or the Needler if you’re a pro.
Knowing what weapon to use in your newly refined arsenal for certain situations will also result in an increase in your boss and Spartan kills. Save your Spartan Lasers and powerful, heavy weaponry for Scorpions, Mantis’, and Warden Eternals, and use your SMG, Shotgun and Battle Rifle for your average Spartan. Same applies for short and long-range combat. Using a Shotgun from a distance is going to do your K/D ratio no favors; that Light Rifle, on the other hand, now you’re talking.
