Sony’s Jim Ryan says that there are still first-party games in development for the Vita, contradicting last week’s reports that first party studios are no longer developing for the platform.
“To clarify what was said about Vita, which was either misinterpreted or misreported,” Ryan told VG247, “I think what was said was that we’re no longer in the business of triple-A development of games for Vita. But there is still first-party Vita content being worked upon.”
Earlier this week, Sony Computer Entertainment Senior Vice President Masayasu Ito reportedly told 4Gamer (translated by DualShockers) that “first party studios have no titles in development for PS Vita,” and that “third parties are working very hard on PS Vita” while SCE focuses on the PlayStation 4.
So overall, it’s been a pretty confusing week for the Vita. Though Shuhei Yoshida isn’t expecting a Vita 2 any time soon, it seems the platform will be seeing more Sony love moving forward than previously thought.
